Does Compression Mean More IFE Storage Capacity?

IdeaNova attended the FTE APEX Virtual Expo on May 25-26, 2021, where their CEO, Juraj Siska, presented to the Apex 0415 v4 working Group section: “Does Compression mean more IFE storage capacity?” Helping to meet the increasing demand for higher quality content there has been an HDR update to the technical specification brought by the APEX working group. Higher quality content brings up a new requirement for improved compression techniques.  In this presentation we discuss the delivery of IFE content to Personal Electronic Devices by reducing storage requirements through the use of advanced coding algorithms.  Through comparing the HEVC, VP9, and AV1 Codecs and their compatibility with different distribution systems, we analyze the feasibility of using a single compressed video file format.   Various delivery methods and DRM encryption options are part of this consideration.  Please watch for this video below, also feel free to connect with the IdeaNova team for further details.
